Kuldeep Yadav was incredible in the game and picked up a hat-trick against the West Indies
India spinner Kuldeep Yadav was in excellent form as he picked up a hat-trick in the second ODI against the West Indies.
India had amassed a massive score of 387 from their 50 overs. KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma scored brilliant centuries to give the home side a strong position.
The target of 388 was always going to be tough for a star-studded Windies side, however, they still had a chance when Shai Hope and Nicholas Pooran were scoring runs for fun.
Mohammed Shami was able to dismiss Pooran and got Kieron Pollard out on the next ball. The pacer missed the chance to pick up a hat-trick but Yadav wasn’t going to.
The Kolkata Knight Riders star first got Hope out as the Windies star tried to smash a six. The next to fall was Jason Holder and the final one was Alzarri Joseph.
Yadav ran away to celebrate with the rest of the team. The spinner also became the first India to snatch two hat-tricks in International cricket.
Yadav finished the game with just the three wickets, but this is another moment he will never forget.
Windies fold easily
Shami’s wickets were crucial to the win and apart from Hope and Pooran, no other Windies star reached the 50-run mark.
Evin Lewis scored 30 while there was some late hitting by Keemo Paul who made 46 fro 42 balls.
The Windies were all-out for just 280 in the 44th over, and this sets up an intriguing clash in the final ODI.
The away side easily won the first clash while India demolished them by 107 runs in the second.
Surprisingly, the pattern was the same in the T20I series with both teams splitting the first two clashes. The games weren’t close contests either, and it will be interesting to see how what the third ODI holds in store for both teams.
