Faf du Plessis was giving the team news ahead of the MSL T20 clash and revealed why Hardus Viljoen didn’t play
The Paarl Rocks were led by Faf Du Plessis ahead of their clash against the Nelson Mandela Bay Giants. However, the captain added that Hardus Viljoen wasn’t playing.
The bowler had been part of the Rocks team this season but was left out for a hilarious reason.
Du Plessis has featured for the South Africa national team and said that his teammate was missing as he got married the previous day.
The 30-year-old Viljoen’s marriage is a cause for celebration, and it was even better as Du Plessis confirmed the bowler was paired with his sister.
Du Plessis also said that Viljoen isn’t playing since he was “lying in bed” with the South African international’s sister.
This was a comical moment as Du Plessis burst out laughing, and Rocks went on to win the clash.
Du Plessis helps Rocks win
The Rocks scored 168/5 from their 20 overs with Du Plessis scoring 22.
Cameron Delport top-scored for the Rocks with 39 from 22 balls while Kyle Verreyne made a quick-fire 36 from 20.
The Nelson Mandela Bay Giants couldn’t get close to this score and ended their innings on 156/6. Tabraiz Shamsi picked up a couple of wickets for the Rocks, and the spinner has been making the news in the MSL too.
Shamsi has picked up several wickets in the tournament and has performed magic tricks while celebrating.
The spinner also celebrated recently by blowing a kiss to his wife, and she did the same.
The MSL certainly seems to have had its moments of fun, and it is great seeing the players break out from their shell too.
It will be interesting to see when Viljoen rejoins the side, but it seems he is enjoying innings and Du Plessis seems pleased with that too.
