NXT has been making a mark in the WWE ever since it was repackaged. The third brand of the promotion has produced several superstars such as Becky Lynch, Charlotte, Seth Rollins and Finn Balor in recent years.
However, the next crop of stars are ready to make a name for themselves and Adam Cole sits firmly at the top of that list.
The 30-year-old has been exceptional on NXT and is the current champion with his stable The Undisputed Era also holding the tag team belts.
NXT invaded SmackDown a recently and Cole put on a great display against Daniel Bryan as he defended his championship.
The 30-year-old was in action on Raw against Seth Rollins, but the match ended with wrestlers from both brands taking shots at each other.
The story behind Adam Cole Bay Bay
Cole has spent years in the business but has been incredible with his stable in NXT. His debut came at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III where he attacked NXT champion Drew McIntyre and formed The Undisputed Era with Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish.
The American is known for his hard-hitting style, and that was on show against Bryan and Rollins with some ferocious kicks.
Cole also has a catchphrase, much like any top wrestler and shouts ‘Adam Cole Bay Bay’.
The NXT superstar explained on Stone Cold Steve Austin’s podcast that the phrase came up thanks to Chris Jericho and Joey Mercury (h/t WWE).
Jericho would exaggerate the word “baby” often on the mike while Mercury often said his name out loud while wrestling.
Cole also points to himself and says “Boom” before entering the ring, something the audience also gets in on.
Adam Cole WWE history
The 30-year-old spend several years on the independent circuit and was signed by the WWE in 2017.
Cole had try-outs and appearances in 2010 and 2013 too, but he finally got his break in 2017.
The NXT champion even made an appearance in the 2018 Royal Rumble and has had feuds with Aleister Black and won the title from Johnny Gargano at NXT TakeOver: XXV.
Cole has been involved in some great bouts in the NXT brand and participated in NXT TakeOver: WarGames with his stable facing off against the Authors of Pain with Roderick Strong and Sanity.
The American also has the distinction of becoming the second NXT triple crown champion having won the NXT title, the NXT tag title and the NXT North American title during his time in the brand.
Survivor series is set to feature several matches between the three brands, and Cole should be involved in some of the best bouts from the pay-per-view.
