Crystal Palace Opinion: Why the Eagles should make a move for Kevin N’Doram

According to a report from the Soccer Link, Crystal Palace are one of the clubs interested in AS Monaco midfielder Kevin N’Doram. (h/t France Football)

The Frenchman, 23, managed just five appearances for AS Monaco in all competitions, as he missed the majority of the season due to a knee injury. Despite his lack of appearances last season, however, interest in the versatile midfielder is high, with the report suggesting the likes of Saint-Etienne, Montpellier, Metz, Nice and Rennes are all keen in Kevin N’Doram.

Crystal Palace are the only English club interested in signing the 23-year-old midfielder and interestingly hold the key due to N’Doram’s desire to move abroad this summer.

The Eagles finished 12th in the Premier League table after a really inconsistent campaign. They did get some good results on their way, but there are certain areas that need reinforcing if Roy Hodgson and co. are to challenge for a top-half finish next term.

One of the areas is the midfield, despite Palace having a plethora of options. In Luka Milivojevic, James McArthur, Max Meyer, Cheikhou Kouyate and Jeffrey Schlupp, Hodgson has options to choose from when deciding his midfield. But apart from Milivojevic, none of the aforementioned players consistently delivered the goods.

Milivojevic led from the front for the South Londoners, scored plenty of goals and protected the back four as well. But the Serbian lacked a partner in midfield that could help him keep things tidy. Expectations were very high when the Eagles signed Meyer on a free transfer from Schalke but he blew hot and cold throughout the campaign.

Kevin N’Doram could be the ideal partner to Milivojevic in midfield. Whilst N’Doram is naturally a defensive midfielder, he can also slot into central defence if needed and has spent his entire career at AS Monaco having progressed through his team’s youth ranks and up to senior level. The 23-year-old is strong on the ball and his tough nature would help him adjust to the grind and demand of the English football.

The Frenchman has the ability to orchestrate the tempo of the game from a deeper role in midfield despite being 23. The player is regarded for his energy, strength, tough-tackling and versatility, whereas his positional awareness and maturity on the ball should make him a proper fit to succeed at Selhurst Park.

Verdict

Although Roy Hodgson will have to spend a lot of time and money bolstering Palace’s toothless attack, he’ll do well to spend some of it on M’Doram to solve his team’s midfield conundrum as well.

Manchester United Opinion: Why the Red Devils should go for Djibril Sidibe?

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants the lion’s share of transfer business done by the time his squad returns for pre-season in early July.

The Norwegian, 46, faces a crucial summer at Old Trafford after the Red Devils finished sixth in the Premier League. Solskjaer needs to make major changes in his squad and the process must start from the base, which is the defence.

Manchester United had the worst defensive record among the top six sides in the 2018/19 campaign having conceded over 50 goals. Their problems over the last few seasons have mostly been at the back as the defence has lacked leadership, quality and has conceded far too many goals.

In Chris Smalling, Eric Bailly, Victor Lindelof, Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo, none of them has shown leadership qualities and defensive stability to become the first-choice at the club. Lindelof, perhaps, is the only central defender to emerge with some credit in an otherwise disappointing season for the Reds. Hence, it’s high-time to offload a couple of them and replace with two quality centre-halves.

Not only in central defence, but United also need a quality right-back. United have already let go Antonio Valencia and should offload Matteo Darmian this summer. Ashley Young is coming to end of his career, while Diogo Dalot isn’t quite ready to be a regular starter at right-back. Thus, its important Solskjaer brings in a player to compete with Dalot and Young next season.

That being said, the Red Devils must reignite their interest in AS Monaco star, Djibril Sidibe.

United were heavily linked with a move for Djibril Sidibe last summer. However, a deal failed to materialise and the full-back stayed put at Monaco. But the Frenchman endured a torrid time with injuries this past season as Monaco just survived the drop to Ligue 2.

Sidibe, 26, could only manage 26 appearances in the Ligue 1, supplying three assists. Injuries hampered his progress and the full-back failed to hit the top gear. With the season done and dusted and the French international now fully fit, Solskjaer must tempt the 26-year-old into joining United.

By signing Sidibe, Solskjaer would get a player equally capable of operating on both sides of the defence. The 26-year-old possesses the power to even beat the best of goalkeepers from a long range and is adept at dribbling past opponents to set up chances for his teammates. His biggest strength is his ability to contribute going forward, marauding up the flank with pace and power.

The Frenchman can be caught napping at times and isn’t exactly solid defensively, but he could iron out the flaws in his game under Solskjaer. If the Norwegian tactician can help him improve his defensive discipline and positioning, Sidibe would be an excellent signing for United.

Verdict

The Red Devils would therefore be wise to take a punt on Sidibe, who at 26 has entered the prime years of his career.

Wolves reigniting interest in this 24-year-old Serie A star would be a massive statement of intent by Nuno

Wolves Opinion: Why Nuno should go all out for AS Monaco’s Keita Balde?

Back in November 2018, the Tuttomercatoweb claimed Wolves were interested in signing Keita Balde, who was on loan at Inter Milan from AS Monaco.

The Senegal international, 24, managed five goals and three assists in 24 Serie A appearances for Inter Milan. Now the Sky Sports claim Inter are not expected to turn the forward’s loan spell permanent this summer.

Keita Balde’s future at Monaco remains unclear but the report says the 24-year-old is open to a move to the Premier League. He still has three years left on his contract with Monaco and is valued between £22m and £26m.

Keeping everything in mind, Wolves must reignite their interest and sign Keita Balde this summer.

After enjoying a brilliant season in the Premier League, Wolves will be looking to bring in some quality players in order to help them break into the top six next term. The Wanderers have made a huge impact this campaign and will play in the Europa League qualifiers. Competing with European teams won’t be an easy task, so Nuno Espirito Santo has to beef up his squad over the summer transfer window.

The Midlands club showed real ambition in the transfer window last summer by recruiting some quality players from Europe. One of them was Raul Jimenez, who was a revelation in the 2018/19 campaign that made Wolves turn his loan move from Benfica into a permanent one. Diogo Jota, Jimenez’s partner up front, also hit top form of late and helped Nuno’s side finish seventh in the standings.

Regardless of Jota doing well, there is a lack of depth as far as Nuno’s options in the forward department are concerned. Wolves will be just an injury away from crisis next season if it remains the same and thus, the Portuguese tactician should address it by bringing in Keita Balde.

Keita’s loan move at Inter wasn’t productive which is why the Serie A club are reluctant to sign him on a permanent basis. But Wolves must take a look at his contributions for Lazio if they are to really assess Balde before signing him.

The Spain-born Senegalese was an absolute beast at Lazio, bullying defenders with his pace, power and physicality. He may have failed to replicate those performances for Monaco and Inter, but it’ll be silly to deny his talent and attacking prowess. If Nuno can get the best out of Keita, he will have real talent on his hands; particularly if the Senegal international can strike up a partnership with Jimenez at the Molineux.

Verdict

At 24, Keita certainly has his career’s best years ahead of him.

If Wolves manage to sign him, the ex-Lazio ace will offer Nuno with additional options in attack. His versatility also means that the Portuguese manager will find it easier to accommodate him in his attacking setup, thus making him a smart addition for the Wanderers.

Manchester United Opinion: Why the Red Devils should sign Youri Tielemans

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is embarking on a sizeable rebuild of the squad after Manchester United finished sixth, five points outside of the final Champions League berth and 32 behind the champions, Manchester City.

The Norwegian, 46, took charge of United on a caretaker basis in December after Jose Mourinho was sacked, but following an initial upturn in results, the team’s form dropped off significantly in the final weeks.

Few will expect a title challenge from the Red Devils next season given how far ahead City and Liverpool are, but only six points separated Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and United. Yet, a club of such stature will aim to realistically compete for the title and for that to happen they need to improve in every area of the pitch and show more consistency throughout the campaign.

Its crystal clear Solskjaer’s side are in need of major reinforcements this summer, particularly in defence and midfield. Shoring up the defence has to be United’s priority, but they must bolster their midfield options following the departure of Ander Herrera and the potential exit of Juan Mata next month.

Herrera’s departure has left a huge void in the squad, as the Spaniard’s energy and tenacity was so crucial in the early couple of months of Solskjaer’s system. He alongside Nemanja Matic were pivotal in helping the team tick over, whilst giving Paul Pogba the license to create opportunities in the final third.

Thus, Solskjaer should bring in Herrera’s replacement this summer and a technically-gifted midfielder like Youri Tielemans could be the perfect fit at Old Trafford. In fact, reputed Belgian journalist Kristof Terreur has revealed United have made held talks with the midfielder’s agent over a summer move.

Youri Tielemans, 22, enjoyed an impressive loan spell in the Premier League last season at Leicester City. He joined the Foxes on a temporary move in January from Monaco with Adrien Silva heading to France as part of a swap deal. The Belgian international scored three times in 13 appearances for the Midlands outfit, helping Brendan Rodgers’ side finish ninth in the table.

A technically-gifted and skilled operator, Tielemans uses his vision to orchestrate decent openings for his teammates going forward. He is an excellent distributor of the ball, known for dictating the tempo of the game as per the situation. What makes him such an accomplished midfielder at such a tender age is his tenacity and willingness to win back possession for his team as well.

Verdict

Hence, the addition of Tielemans makes sense. The 22-year-old star offers the much-needed urgency in midfield while his technical abilities coupled with his work rate and energy will make him a grand success at Old Trafford.
