Newcastle United Opinion: Magpies should go all out in their pursuit of Stanley N’Soki

According to a report from the Chronicle Live, Newcastle United could reignite their interest in PSG left-back Stanley N’Soki when the transfer window reopens.

The Chronicle reported last summer that the Magpies were hot on trail of the French youth international, while French newspaper La Provence claimed back in January that PSG had turned down an approach from the Premier League club.

However, it looks as if Newcastle are finally going to have some luck in their pursuit of the talented youngster, with French news outlet Le Parisien claiming that PSG are likely to sell some of their fringe players to avoid falling foul of Financial Fair Play regulations and Stanley N’Soki is one of them.

The same source understands that PSG would be willing to entertain offers of around £8.5 million for the highly-rated left-back, which should be affordable for any Premier League club.

A talented youngster with loads of potential and probably a high resale value, N’Soko perfectly fits the profile of players Newcastle owner Mike Ashley likes to invest in and the Magpies have been handed a massive boost in their pursuit of the French prodigy.

Born in Poissy, France, to parents of Congolese descent, N’Soki has represented the country of his birth at all youth levels, having accumulated a total of 13 caps for France from U16 to U21 levels.

Held in high regard in the youth academy at PSG, N’Soki broke into the first team last season but he has really come of age for the Ligue 1 giants this term, making a total of 15 appearances in all competitions, including 8 starts in Ligue 1.

A modern-day offensive-minded full-back, the youngster has earned rave reviews for his well-rounded attributes, and had it not been for the presence of stalwarts like Juan Bernat and Layvin Kurzawa, the youngster would probably have started more regularly at the French capital.

Assured at the back and adventurous further up the pitch, N’Soki has caught the eye with his high work-rate and ability to contribute equally to both defence and attack.

Blessed with a good technique, his range of passing is comparable to any central midfielder, while his bagful of tricks would even make a winger envious. He has a good positional sense for a player of his age, and at 21, there is still plenty of time for him to make significant improvements to his game.

To put things into perspective, Newcastle could have a gem in their hands for a bargain amount if they manage to strike a deal for the talented French left-back this summer.

The Magpies have plenty of issues to tackle ahead of the transfer window, which includes sorting out the future of manager Rafael Benitez, who is out of contract in about a month’s time.

With the futures of Salomon Rondon and Ayoze Perez on Tyneside still very much up in the air, a new No.9 should be high on the manager’s wishlist but left-back is another area that is in need of investment as well.

Matt Ritchie has been an ever-present for the Magpies in that position but the 29-year-old has attracted interest from Stoke City and his potential exit would leave Benitez, or whoever is in charge for that matter, with a massive void to fill (h/t Sun).

Even if Ritchie stays put, Newcastle should look to bring in a specialist left-back to enable themselves to use the former Bournemouth man in a more advanced role.

Antonio Barreca was brought in on loan from Monaco for that purpose but the Italian has failed to make an impact and Newcastle need to look at other options.

Paul Dummett, though a very sound left-back, does not offer much in terms of attack, which makes him unfit for the role of a wing-back. On the contrary, Stanley N’Soki has a more dynamic game and he would be an ideal option for the Magpies to solve their left-back conundrum.

Having managed to beat the drop in the last couple of seasons, it is now time for Newcastle to try and get back to the top-half of the Premier League and signing N’Soki would definitely be a step in the right direction.

Chelsea’s title hopes next season depend on whether or not they retain this hard-working 28-year-old workhorse

Chelsea Opinion: Blues must convince Kante to extend at Chelsea

According to a recent report by The Mirror, French giants Paris Saint-Germain are said to be extremely keen on signing Chelsea’s World Cup winning star N’Golo Kante in the summer. While the Parisians were formerly interested in acquiring Everton star Idrissa Gueye, they have now turned their full attention in the pursuit of Kante.

PSG are yet to reach anywhere near the final of the Champions League, let alone winning the whole thing. It is being suggested that the PSG chiefs believe that Kante is the man to unlock the immense talent on offer at the Parc de Princes.

He would slot perfectly well into the midfield and despite all the talented midfielders they have already, his contributions would certainly be vital to the side’s plays. His defensive work rate seems excellent even by Premier League standards, meaning that in the Ligue 1 – a relatively slower league -his movements would be almost untraceable.

Kante has been a key feature of the Chelsea side over the last few years. Since joining from Leicester City with a Premier League winners’ medal around his neck, he backed up his move by helping Antonio Conte deliver the league title in his first season in charge.

His exemplary performances in the middle of the park were an inspiration to the rest of the side and the number of plaudits he earned were uncountable.

The 28-year-old French international is arguably the best defensive midfielder in the world and on his day, is almost impossible to get past. He works tirelessly for 90 minutes and more and makes sure that he gives his 110% every time he steps out onto the pitch.

This season, he’s even added some attacking elements to game and they’ve certainly made him an even better player.

He’s really played a starring role in the Chelsea side this season under Maurizio Sarri. Despite being utilised out of position, the Frenchman has delivered the goods on more than one occasion and has even stepped up with some crucial goals along the way.

He’s scored 4 goals and set up and a further 4 from his 36 league appearances.

The Frenchman’s has notched 38 caps for France over the course of his career and he’s scored a goal while on international duty as well.

He is contracted at Stamford Bridge till the summer of 2023 but a move back to his home country could be tempting, especially considering that the club involved is Paris Saint Germain as well.

While the Parisians have enough cash-power to lure in any player they fancy, it would be ignorant to think that Chelsea would let their prized possession leave without putting up a fight. His contributions have been pivotal to everything positive the Blues have done over the years and keeping him at the Bridge must be among their top priorities.

Everton’s right-back woes would be solved if Marco Silva succeeds in signing this versatile 27-year-old

Everton Opinion: Why the Toffees should make a move for Thomas Meunier?

According to a report from French Football, Everton have made a provisional contract offer to Paris Saint-Germain right-back Thomas Meunier.

The Belgian, 27, has another year on his current deal and has made it clear he wants to remain with the French champions, but PSG will look to sell him this summer.

Given the right-back has only a year left at PSG, Everton should look to take advantage of the situation and sign Thomas Meunier before the start of the 2019/20 campaign.

Everton boss Marco Silva will look to improve his squad in the transfer window after an eighth-placed finish in the 2018/19 season. The Toffees spent most of the season in mid-table, as they struggled to put away some of the smaller teams in the league. One of the club’s biggest problems this campaign was injuries, as several star players spent time on the sidelines.

One of them was Seamus Coleman, who suffered a nasty injury while on international duty in 2017 which kept him out of action for Everton until January 2018. He made a return in the 2-1 win over Leicester City and since then, the Irish international has again cemented himself as Everton’s no.1 right-back.

However, Coleman had few problems with injuries this term as well, but with him turning 31 in August and Silva planning to loan out young Jonjoe Kenny this summer for regular game time, it would be wise for the Merseysiders to start thinking about the future of Coleman and providing him with some real competition.

Thus, the Toffees should make a summer swoop for Thomas Meunier.

Meunier joined Paris Saint-Germain from Club Brugge three summers ago and has been a consistent performer for the French giants. He has played regularly at right-back and right-midfield for Thomas Tuchel’s side this season, though several injuries during the latter part of the campaign have hampered him.

A free-flowing, attacking full-back, the Belgian international loves to maraud forward and join his team’s attacks as much as he can. Meunier is fantastic at overlapping teammates and providing width to his team.

He is an able dribbler and a great crosser of the ball, something which could potentially see poachers like Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Cenk Tosun thrive inside the box.

The former Club Brugge ace is also a competent dribbler and also works very hard for his side. Furthermore, Meunier’s versatility to play as a wing-back and as a right-sided midfielder, coupled with bags of European experience will make an asset at Everton if Silva manages to sign him.

Thus, it’ll be wise for Everton to go all out for Meunier in this summer transfer window.

Man United would commit the biggest transfer blunder by signing this 32-year-old Ligue 1 ace – Agreed?

Manchester United Opinion: Why the Red Devils should avoid signing Cavani

Manchester United are in regular contact with Paris Saint-Germain star Edinson Cavani’s entourage as they plot a summer swoop for the striker, reports the Metro.

The Uruguay international, 32, has a contract at PSG until the summer of 2020, yet there has been no talk of a contract extension between the player and the club. The 32-year-old has been a long-term target for Manchester United and there is a belief that they could land him this summer, adds the report.

If PSG are reluctant to offer Edinson Cavani an extension to his current contract, they’ll likely look to sell him at the end of this season in order to avoid losing him on a free transfer in the summer of 2020. That being said, should the Red Devils make a move for the Uruguayan in the summer?

Seven defeats in nine matches have left United three points outside the Premier League’s top four and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, having only just been appointed, is under no illusions as to how big the task is in front of him.

Solskjaer’s side were swept aside by cross-town rivals Manchester City on Wednesday night, just three days after a humiliating 4-0 thrashing at Everton.

The pressure is now firmly on the Norwegian, who was rewarded with the permanent job last month after winning 14 of his 19 matches in charge on an interim basis. The Red Devils’ squad is in serious need of an overhaul in the summer and that was evidently clear following their results in the past two games.

Before Solskjaer is judged, however, he must be given time to build his own squad with his own targets. The club has to prioritise strengthening the defence, which has leaked a staggering 50 goals in 35 games this season.

Focus must then turn on adding more firepower to the attack, as none of Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata can be relied upon to deliver the goods consistently. Plus, Romelu Lukaku has already hinted he could leave the club for Serie A, citing it as ‘a dream’.

That itself tells how far the 20-time Premier League champions have fallen and why they need a clinical striker from next season.

But Cavani isn’t the solution to United’s goalscoring woes. The Uruguayan has enjoyed another solid campaign in front of goal for PSG, helping the team win yet another Ligue 1 title. Despite his own goalscoring talent, he doesn’t fit into Solskjaer’s system and is already 32.

United need fresh, fast and exciting players in the summer to take the club forward. Cavani is one of the top strikers in Ligue 1 and has accomplished so much in Paris, but he is a player the Reds should avoid signing.
