Arsenal Opinion: Why the Gunners should go all out for Youri Tielemans?
According to a report from the Metro, on-loan Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.
The Belgian international, 22, has been in top form for Leicester City since moving to the King Power Stadium on loan in the January transfer window from AS Monaco. He has scored three goals and made four assists in 12 Premier League games for the Foxes and Brendan Rodgers should consider making his move permanent this summer.
But Leicester are set to face competition from the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United for the midfielder, who is valued at around £40million. That said, Arsenal should do everything possible to beat their Premier League rivals for Youri Tielemans.
Arsenal’s hopes of finishing in the top four are looking slim, although they could still qualify for next season’s Champions League by winning the Europa League this term. The Gunners have had a decent debut season under Unai Emery but the Spanish manager will want reinforcements over the summer to prepare the north Londoners gunning for the league title.
One area that Arsenal will have to strengthen with a quality player is in central midfield, with the likes of Granit Xhaka and Matteo Guendouzi failing to consistently perform this season. Lucas Torreira started the season well but his form has tailed off since the past couple of months.
The only consistent midfielder for the Gunners this season has been Aaron Ramsey but he has once again struggled with injuries. Moreover, the Welshman is set to leave the Emirates Stadium for Juventus at the end of the season, which will leave a huge void in Emery’s squad.
Emery must definitely fill the void by signing a solid midfielder in the summer transfer window. A player like Tielemans would be a fantastic fit at the Emirates, considering his age and style of play.
Tielemans is a tremendously gifted midfielder, who can control the tempo of the game from the middle of the park with his passing range. He has quickly adapted to the demands of the Premier League, showing a testament to his maturity and ability.
The Belgium international is a classy operator of the ball, known for his calmness and composure as well as his ability to pick the right pass in the final third.

The 22-year-old may not be as effective as Ramsey while going forward, but his distribution skills, work ethic and ability to read the game would certainly complement the likes of Xhaka and Torreira at Arsenal. Tielemans will add a different dimension to the Gunners’ midfield, making them compact and a potent unit going forward.
Tielemans is the kind of player that Arsenal desperately need in their squad. With Ramsey set to leave, Emery needs a massive upgrade in midfield and the Belgian could be the answer to Arsenal’s midfield conundrum.
