Man United Opinion: Man United have done the right thing by extending Andreas Pereira’s contract
According to BBC Sports, Man United have extended the contract of midfielder Andreas Pereira till 2020, with the Red Devils offering a 1-year extension to the Brazilian’s current contract which was set to expire at the end of the ongoing season.
Pereira has made a total of 14 appearances for United in all competitions, including 9 in the Premier League and has enjoyed an extended run in the first team under the reign of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The Brazilian made his debut back in the 2014-15 season but was shipped out on successive loan spells at La Liga clubs Granada and Valencia. However, he has made a positive impact at Old Trafford this term and it would be fair to say that he has enjoyed a breakthrough season.
The 23-year-old struggled to realise his potential under Jose Mourinho but he has looked much more comfortable under Solskjaer, with the Norwegian using him in a more advanced role.
Pereira scored an absolute screamer in United’s 3-2 victory over Southampton and followed it up with another decent showing in the Champions League against PSG as the Red Devils competed a remarkable comeback to progress to the last 8.
Pereira has looked a lot more calm and confident on the ball in recent weeks and has played his role to perfection in the absence of Jesse Lingard, Ander Herrera and Anthony Martial. To go with his obvious quality and sharpness on the ball, the Brazilian also has the versatility to play anywhere in the midfield.
The 23-year-old has shown with his exploits in the attacking third that he isn’t particularly suited to a holding role as he lacks the ability to make well-timed challenges, but his creativity and ability to move the ball around quickly during counter-attacks can certainly be an asset to the Red Devils.
The Brazilian has also impressed with his link-up play, long-range shooting, deliveries from the wide areas and temperament, not giving the ball away easily and working hard to win it back. Man United could have a real gem in their hands if Solskjaer manages to get the best out of the in-form youngster in the coming days.
United have some ageing players in the midfield and Andreas Pereira’s youthful presence can work wonders for them and help them build a team for the future. Having tied him down to a new deal, United can also choose to cash in on him in the summer and boost their budget to invest in other options.

However, keeping him at the club for the long-term could prove to be beneficial for the Red Devils as he is a player with loads of talent.
Man United signing this 36-year-old world-class veteran would strengthen a key position for Solskjaer
Manchester United opinion: Signing Dani Alves would be a massive move
The former Barcelona man has been in the books at Chelsea and Manchester City as well but it’s United who could use his services the most.
The rumours about a possible switch to the Premier League have arisen again because the of apparent unwillingness to sign a new contract at PSG. While the French club are only offering him a one-year contract, the Brazilian is said to be holding out for a two-year deal.
If the experienced Brazil international doesn’t get what he wants from the Parisians, expect more than one Premier League club to be in for his signature.
It’s been suggested that he isn’t satisfied with the level of football being playing in the French capital as their Champions League campaign went down the drain yet again.
The Brazilian veteran came up through the youth ranks in Brazil all the way back in 2003 and has featured in over 100 matches for the national side.
He was even an important feature of multiple world cups and he’s managed to notch up an impressive 7 goals during this time. His exploits with the Brazil team have become the stuff of legend.
Since developing as a player at Bahia, Alves has had an illustrious career which has seen him play in Spain, Italy and now France.
He played 22 league games for PSG this season and managed to provide 7 assists despite only being able to score once. He picked up 4 yellow cards along the way but he still offers a certain degree of stability at the back.
One of the players that Alves would be replacing at United if he did end up making the switch would be Ecuadorean veteran Antonio Valencia, who has been a loyal servant at Old Trafford for quite a few years now.
Despite his experience, the 33-year-old has struggled to break into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team.
Dani Alves is a pacy customer and despite his ripe age, he is assured to offer a lot going forward. Quite often found in the opposition penalty box, Alves has a well-rounded eye for a pass and his crosses from wide are usually executed to perfection.
Although his goals have dried up in recent seasons, moving to a league as vibrant as the Premier League could be the wake-up call he needs.

The Brazilian has certainly expressed his interest in moving to play in what is arguably the most exciting league in the world.
With Manchester United looking to potentially bring in leaders to motivate this young side, Dani Alves could come to Old Trafford as a knight in shining armour to save this historic football club from complete capitulation.
Glory days to return? – Here is why Man Utd must go all out to sign this 25-year-old to reinforce this key area
Manchester United Opinion: Why Thomas Partey will be a good fit at United?
According to the Daily Mail, Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey’s agent, Daniel Jimenez, has revealed his client could be signed for £43.5million, amidst interest from Manchester United and Arsenal.
The Ghana international, 25, has enjoyed a brilliant 2018-19 campaign for Atletico Madrid, racking up 41 appearances across all competitions and scoring three goals. His performances in the middle of the park have helped Diego Simeone’s side secure a runners-up spot in La Liga and also earned him plenty of attention from top clubs around Europe, including Manchester United and Arsenal.
That being said, Manchester United should beat Arsenal to the signature of Thomas Partey.
Manchester United endured a disappointing end to the campaign as they slumped to a sixth-placed finish in the Premier League and ended up without a trophy. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will now be focused on making sure that they bring in the right players needed to bolster their squad as they look to improve next season.
The Red Devils were woeful as far as their defending was concerned this past season. Solskjaer should prioritise fixing his backline and once he reinforces it, the focus must shift to bolstering the midfield. The Norwegian’s side are lacking a midfield enforcer capable of breaking play and dictating the tempo of the game.
Ander Herrera and Juan Mata are set to leave Old Trafford next month on free transfer, while Nemanja Matic will turn 31 in August. Regardless of what is going to happen with Paul Pogba in the summer transfer window, Solskjaer is in dire need of reinforcements in midfield.
Thomas Partey would be an ideal fit at United. The Ghanaian is a good passer of the ball, skilful and versatile, adept playing at right-back if required. A strong and robust presence in the midfield, the 25-year-old is noted for his technical brilliance and high levels of energy.
He can drive his team forward by going on a mazy run from midfield and is also a dangerous customer in the box during set-pieces. Furthermore, Partey is also a hard worker off the ball and covers a lot of ground, which should make him a perfect fit for Solskjaer’s style of play.

The hard-tackling Ghana international would bring in much-needed steel and aggressiveness to United’s midfield, whilst adding depth to the squad.
At the age of 25, Partey has finally established himself as one of the first names on Diego Simeone’s teamsheet. His qualities make him a perfect fit for the Premier League and thus, United must not hesitate to meet the midfielder’s release clause this summer.

Man United Opinion: Red Devils should beat Arsenal in the race to sign Thomas Partey
Daily Mail understands that Inter Milan are also interested in the Ghanaian international, with the player’s agent revealing that the defensive midfielder has a release clause of £43.5 million in his contract at the Wanda Metropolitano.
The same source claims that Partey has impressed Unai Emery and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with his consistent run of form in the La Liga and both the managers are keen on bringing the 25-year-old to the Premier League this summer.
Partey signed for Atletico as a talented youngster from Ghana back in 2011 and played for the club’s reserve team for a couple of years before making his professional debut in the 2015-16 season, following a successful loan spell at fellow La Liga club Almeria. The 25-year-old struggled to establish himself as a regular in his first two seasons but he has established himself as one of the club’s prized assets since the start of the 2017-18 season.
The Ghanaian enjoyed another fruitful season at Atletico this term and made 32 appearances in the La Liga, scoring thrice and setting up another 4 in the process. He has carved out a reputation for himself as one of the best defensive midfielders in the Spanish top-flight over the past couple of campaigns and his links to the Premier League giants comes as little surprise.
Partey has made a total of 139 appearances for the Rojiblancos in all competitions till date, accumulating 12 goals and 11 assists, returns which are quite good for a defensive midfielder.
Known for his strength, tenacity, drive and determination, Partey is an energetic presence in the middle of the park who has the capability to shoulder both defensive and attacking responsibilities. Noted for his high work-rate, Partey covers every blade of grass on the pitch to add steel to the midfield and hold things together, while also possessing excellent technical abilities and a wonderful range of passing to dictate the tempo of the game.
Quick across the ground, strong on the tackle and blessed with remarkable dribbling skills for a central midfielder, the 25-year-old not only makes use of his game reading ability to cut out attacks with tackles and interceptions but he also sets his team on the front-foot with powerful driving runs forward.
Despite being used in a defensive role, Partey is more than capable of creating his own space and chipping in with key passes from the midfield, while also making late runs into the box to contribute with valuable goals. Furthermore, he is a wonderful distance-shooter and a recognised set-piece specialist.
To put things into perspective, Partey would be an excellent signing for both Man United and Arsenal but the Red Devils would bag a massive coup if they manage to beat off competition for the highly-rated midfield enforcer this summer. A new central midfielder is likely to be high on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s recruitment list, following the departure of Ander Herrera on a free transfer and the Ghanaian perfectly fits the bill.
United finished the season with a poor run of results against the likes of relegated teams like Cardiff City and Huddersfield Town and the manager clearly needs to revamp his squad in the summer to challenge for silverware. If the recently-concluded Premier League season is anything to go by, Nemanja Matic is clearly past his prime and Paul Pogba is not consistent enough to deliver the goods week-in-week-out.
The Red Devils splashed a huge amount to bring Fred to the club last summer but the Brazilian has not lived up to the expectations whatsoever and United certainly need better and more consistent players to compete with the best. Thomas Partey looks more like the real deal and United should go all out in their pursuit of the Ghanaian enforcer to add steel and stability to their midfield.

Partey, 25, has entered his prime years and United have every reason to look at him as an excellent long-term investment. Going by what he has shown so far in the La Liga, the Red Devils might as well have a player better than Fernandinho in the years to come if they manage to strike a deal for him this summer.
