2 Premier League clubs who should sign Asmir Begovic in the summer
According to the Daily Mail, Bournemouth goalkeeper Asmir Begovic had a bust-up with manager Eddie Howe after the Bosnian has been dropped in favour of Arthur Boruc in recent weeks. The report says that Asmir Begovic was involved in a heated argument with his boss at the club’s headquarters next to the Vitality Stadium.
Asmir Begovic moved to the south coast from Chelsea in 2017, 10 years after signing for them on loan when they were in League One. The 31-year-old won the Premier League at Stamford Bridge but played just 2 games for the club that season.
The Bosnian started every game for the Cherries until he was dropped for the game against West Ham this season. The 31-year-old has been on the bench in Bournemouth’s last 3 games in the Premier League and is set to remain there after Boruc’s back-to-back clean sheets against West Ham and Chelsea.
Following the altercation with the manager, Begovic’s future at Bournemouth looks uncertain and the goalkeeper is at a stage in his career where he needs to start every game. The Bosnian is under contract at the Vitality until 2021 but a move away from the south coast at the end of the season is on the cards.
Here are 2 Premier League clubs who should make a move for Asmir Begovic in the summer.
Summer signing Vincente Guaita has taken over from first-choice goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey and has started in 8 out of Crystal Palace’s last 9 games. With 39-year-old Julien Speroni set to leave the club in the summer, Palace will be in the market for an experienced hand and Asmir Begovic should be on top of their list.
The Bosnian averages 2.64 saves per game this season, more than any of Palace’s goalkeepers. Begovic will bring bags of experience and leadership to Roy Hodgson’s side and is an option that the Eagles should seriously consider.
The Lilywhites have had a poor campaign on their return to the Premier League and are currently 19th in the table having conceded a shocking 58 goals so far this season.
Marcus Bettinelli returned from injury on game week 3 and started 7 games for Fulham but he conceded 20 goals and failed to keep a single clean sheet. Former Sevilla man Sergio Rico took over and has started Fulham’s last 16 games. The 25-year-old has let in 33 goals during this period, keeping just 2 clean sheets.

Fulham need an experienced man between the sticks and Asmir Begovic fills that criteria perfectly. The Bosnian has over 250 appearances in the Premier League over the last 10 seasons and will bring a much-needed leadership into the Fulham backline. Should Claudio Ranieri’s team survive, Begovic should be their number 1 goalkeeping target in the summer.
Here are 3 Premier League stars that Newcastle should look to sign in the summer – including Bournemouth duo
Newcastle United Opinion: Magpies must sign these 3 vital players
Newcastle United started the Premier League season with a lot of lofty ambitions and dreams. But as it turned out, the harsh reality of the English game didn’t let them get anywhere near their pre-season targets and this was mainly because of the wave of injuries they suffered along the course of the season.
A variety of their star players including the likes of Jonjo Shelley, Mo Diame, Kenedy and Paul Dummett spent prolonged spells on the sideline which certainly didn’t help Rafa Benitez’s cause and managed to put him under a bit of added pressure as well.
With most of the season now behind us, a quick look back at their season and it could well be branded a successful one considering the apparent inability they showed to score goals in the first part of the season, despite the presence of Salomon Rondon.
The winter signing of Paraguayan star Miguel Almiron has certainly been a massive success and considering all of this, it’s quite silly to see that Newcastle haven’t been targeting to reach greater heights. With young players like Ayoze Perez and Christian Atsu to push the team forward, there is a bright future ahead.
The purchase of a couple of high quality players is definitely going to be necessary considering the toll that the injury wave took on them earlier in the season. According to exclusive reports from the Daily Star, Newcastle managed Rafa Benitez has created a shortlist of three players that he wishes to lure to St.James’ Park at the end of the season.
As suggested by reports, Rafa has added Burnley’s young sensation Dwight McNeil to wish list of summer signing which already included the names of Bournemouth stars Ryan Fraser and David Brooks. With such a massive overhaul planned at the Toon, Rafa could be taking Newcastle into the next phase of the long history.
Here are the 3 Premier League stars that Newcastle are looking to sign in the summer:
The Burnley youngster has been a sensation since bursting onto the Premier League scene earlier in the season and since then, his stock has been skyrocketing.
Still only 19, the Clarets’ prized possession has been showing off his amazing talents off late and it’s no surprise that the bigger teams have begun to ask questions about the 3-goal star.
Fraser’s season has been one to behold as it seems like he just keeps going from strength to strength. Yet to miss a game in the league this season, Fraser’s contribution to Eddie Howe’s side have been commendable while his numbers which read 7 goals and 11 assists are the stuff of dreams for a young Scot as well.

Another young talent being nurtured and developed by Eddie Howe at the Vitality Stadium, Brooks has been a revelation since coming to the fore when the Cherries needed him most earlier in the season.
Since making the starting role his own, his performance levels have gone up and his record of 7 goals and 5 assists means that the 21-year-old’s value is on the up as well.
7 goals, 5 assists – Newcastle would bag a massive coup £11.5m Welsh ace from PL rivals and here is why
Newcastle United Opinion: Magpies should sign David Brooks this summer
According to the Daily Star, Newcastle United are interested in signing Bournemouth attacker David Brooks, with manager Rafael Benitez understood to be keen on bringing the Welsh starlet to Tyneside in the summer.
The same report claims that Newcastle also want to bring in Brooks’ teammate Ryan Fraser in a bid to add more depth and firepower to their attacking ranks.
David Brooks has been a revelation in the Premier League this season for Bournemouth and has emerged as one of the breakout stars in the top-flight following his £11.5 million move from Sheffield United last summer.
The 21-year-old Welsh international has caught the eye of several top clubs with his consistently impressive displays for the Cherries, netting 7 goals and assisting a further 5 in just 28 appearances.
Newcastle’s links with Brooks and Fraser should be a piece of welcome news to the fans at Tyneside, who would be hoping for some young and exciting talent to arrive in the summer.
The Magpies currently sit 15th in the Premier League standings and Benitez has been instrumental in guiding the club to safety following a dismal start to the campaign. Salomon Rondon has been a key contributor with his goals and assists up front but it remains to be seen whether both the manager and the player stay at the club beyond the end of the season.
In all honesty, David Brooks would be a wonderful signing for the Magpies both in terms of quality and resale value. He is still a very young player with loads of potential who would command a huge fee in the future if the club decides to cash in on him, though Bournemouth would not let him depart on the cheap after an impressive first season.
Mike Ashley will have to loosen his purse strings and beat off competition from a number of top clubs if he is really serious about the player.
The deal, if it materializes, would be a perfect start to the summer for Newcastle and certainly a huge coup for the Magpies. Brooks has the talent to emulate the success of his fellow countrymen Aaron Ramsey and Gareth Bale and Newcastle will have a real gem in their hands if they do manage to strike a deal for the youngster.
Brooks is a technically-gifted versatile attacking midfielder who is capable of playing through the centre in a No.10 role and also out wide on the right, owing to his left-footed nature.
Noted for his sharpness, agility, pace and acceleration, Brooks not only uses his trickery on the ball and quick feet to leave the opposition flat-footed but he is equally adept at creating chances with his creative passing and vision.
Adept at linking up with his teammates and a powerful striker of the ball with his left foot, Brooks would be the perfect man to a different dimension to Newcastle’s attack.
The Magpies need to get rid of some of their lacklustre attackers like Robert Kenedy, Christian Atsu, Rolando Aarons, Jacob Murphy and a few others to raise some valuable funds and free up space for someone like Brooks to come in.
Ayoze Perez has hit good form late in the season while January club-record signing Miguel Almiron is set to make a big impression. In the circumstances, the acquisition of a proven Premier talent like Brooks could work wonders for Benitez.

Bournemouth should complete a £25million double raid on Leeds for two supremely talented stars
Bournemouth Opinion: Cherries should sign Phillips and Clarke from Leeds
According to a report from Football Insider, Bournemouth are keen on bringing Leeds United duo Kalvin Phillips and Jack Clarke to the south coast in the summer, as manager Eddie Howe plots a sensational £25 million double raid on the Whites.
Football Insider also understands that the Cherries are interested in the duo irrespective of whether Leeds get promoted to the Premier League or stay in the Championship.
While Phillips has been one of the mainstays of Marcelo Bielsa’s first team playing in that holding midfield role in front of the backline, Clarke has emerged as one of the breakout stars of the Championship with some eye-catching displays down the flanks, though he is still not a first-team regular for the league games.
The 18-year-old has accumulated 2 goals and 2 assists from just 4 starts in the league, which has put him on the radar of several top Premier League clubs.
Bournemouth have fearlessly splashed the cash on promising young British talents in the transfer market and manager Eddie Howe has been able to extract the best out of them, with the likes of Lewis Cook, Chris Mepham, David Brooks, Jordon Ibe and Dominic Solanke being amongst those to have arrived at the south coast in recent times.
Their policy of building a strong core of young English players has worked wonders for them in the Premier League and Phillips and Clarke are exactly the sorts of players that Bournemouth need to look at.
To put things into perspective, Clarke and Phillips would be excellent additions to Bournemouth’s ranks as the Cherries do need to add depth and quality to their central midfield and attacking options.
Clarke is a player in the same mould as David Brooks and given that the Welshman has been linked with moves to bigger clubs in the summer, the 18-year-old might prove to be a useful squad player for the club next season, though it is unlikely that he would get too many first-team opportunities in the Premier League.
Clarke is a technically-gifted winger with decent pace, flair and quality on the ball, who can develop into a fine player in the days to come and push the likes of Ibe and Lys Mousset for a first-team role.
Phillips, on the other hand, is another academy graduate at Elland Road who has taken his game to a new level under Bielsa this season and has played a key role in the club’s surge for promotion.
Primarily a defensive midfielder by trade, the 23-year-old has also showcased his versatility to play at centre-back, which might be one of the reasons behind Bournemouth’s interest in the player.
He excels with his tackling and interception skills in the middle of the park and uses his strength and game awareness to shield the backline. To add to that, the youngster is a good passer who likes to dictate the tempo of the game by moving the ball around and holding things together.
Phillips would be the ideal man to partner Jefferson Lerma in the midfield and he is more than capable of ousting ageing players like Dan Gosling and Andrew Surman. Also, his presence might just put a little bit more pressure on Lewis Cook to start delivering the goods more consistently.
