West Ham Opinion: Why the Hammers should go all out for Sebastien Haller

According to a report from The Chronicle, West Ham are interested in Eintracht Frankfurt star, Sebastien Haller.

The Frenchman, 24, has had a fantastic season with Frankfurt, scoring 20 goals and supplying 12 assists across all the competitions. He was crucial in propelling the German club to the Europa League qualifiers.

Haller’s performances haven’t gone unnoticed, with West Ham keen to secure his signature. But it’ll be difficult for the Hammers to tempt the 24-year-old away to the London Stadium, considering that Frankfurt will play the Europa League qualifiers. Yet, the Premier League club must do everything possible to get their man this summer.

West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini has had an underwhelming first season at the London Stadium. He will at least need a couple of transfer windows to make the Hammers worthy of challenging for trophies. At the moment, the club is miles away from winning trophies but this summer transfer window is an opportunity for Pellegrini to make a statement ahead of the new season.

The club are in dire need of a new striker, with injury-ridden Andy Carroll set to depart when his contract expires on 30 June while Lucas Perez and Javier Hernandez have attracted interest from La Liga. Marko Arnautovic and Michail Antonio could be the only ones left who can play up front for West Ham, which means Pellegrini must prioritise addressing the problems in the strike department.

Sebastien Haller could be a brilliant option for the Hammers, whilst being the ideal replacement for Andy Carroll. Blessed with pace, power and physicality, the Frenchman is an extremely composed finisher in front of goal. The burly centre-forward offers a lot more going forward than what his height would make one image.

Sebastien Haller

The 24-year-old is an intelligent striker, known for his link-up play and ability to station himself in proper goalscoring areas in the box. His heading ability is excellent, while his creativity has helped set up a number of goals this season. Haller can stretch the game and will thrive at West Ham, who have some really good attacking players.

The ex-Utrecht man can form a deadly attacking quartet with the likes of Felipe Anderson, Manuel Lanzini and Marko Arnautovic at the London Stadium. In fact, Haller could be Arnautovic’s foil in a dual-striker system, giving West Ham’s attack a whole new dimension next term.

Verdict

Undoubtedly, Haller would command a high fee but he’ll be worth every penny West Ham invest on him this summer.
