Two players Tottenham Hotspur must sign before deadline day

Tottenham Hotspur are yet to complete a single signing so far and they do not have much time left at hand. Deadline day is almost upon us and it would not be advisable for the club to go into a new season and compete in multiple competitions.

In fact, their lack of squad depth has been a problem for quite some time now. One must credit for them for managing to hold onto all of their first-team stars but that won’t be enough.

There has been growing concern over the club’s lack of trophies despite the fact that they are one of the most consistent teams in the Premier League in recent times. Hence, to ensure they pick up silverware in the upcoming campaign, they must sign new players.

Fortunately enough, Tottenham have a solid first-team and do have depth in certain areas. However, Spurs must try to sign these two players before the ongoing transfer window slams shut.

Jack Grealish

The Grealish saga has dragged on for the longest time now. The Aston Villa midfielder rose to prominence last season as the Villans nearly managed to book a berth for themselves in the Premier League. They were eventually beaten by Fulham but Grealish’s contribution and skills did not go unnoticed.

Ever since the transfer window began, Tottenham have been interested in acquiring his services. An attacking midfielder by trade, Grealish is one of the most talented midfielders in England and has the potential to go on and become a world-class superstar – thereby fitting the mould of players Tottenham like to sign.

Jay Rodriguez

Rodriguez might not be an attractive option for most fans but he is one of the sturdiest performers and possibly the best that Spurs can do at this point. He was one of West Bromwich Albion’s better performers last season and is a seasoned Premier League veteran.

Fernando Llorente failed to do much last season but there is a reason to believe that Rodriguez would be different. He has worked with Mauricio Pochettino at Southampton before and his late runs into the box could be a handful for opposition defenders. With Heung-min Son set to join South Korea for the Asian games, Tottenham will need a reliable backup for Harry Kane.
