Two players Leeds United must sign before deadline day

Leeds United began their Championship campaign in style by defeating one of the favourites, Stoke City, 3-1 at Elland Road. Manager Marcelo Bielsa have made them play in a fantastic way, which was expected.

However, during the course of the season ahead, the Argentine may need decent squad depth to utilize upon requirement. The main rationale behind that would be the high-intensity football the manager is known to prefer, which will surely take a toll on the players through injuries and fatigue.

Hence, they must sign two more players, one each in the defence and the midfield, to shore up those departments before the transfer deadline occurs.

So, here are two players Leeds must sign before Thursday night.

Liam Moore (from Reading)

According to reports in Sky Sports, Reading defender Liam Moore had handed in a transfer request to the club amidst interest from Brighton and Hove Albion. However, the Premier League club haven’t been able to close out the deal.

So, there is a chance for Leeds United to jump in and swoop for the player. Moore arrived in Reading in the summer of 2016 and played all 46 games in his debut season. It’s fair to say that the 25-year-old impressed everyone to deserve playing regular football for the club.

In the last season too, Moore was integral to what Reading did, even though they just escaped relegation to third-tier football in England. Hence, Bielsa must make the signing before the deadline, as the Englishman has the required tools to succeed at Elland Road.

Oliver Norwood (from Brighton and Hove Albion)

Leeds Live claims that Leeds United are close to signing midfielder Oliver Norwood from Brighton. Acquiring his services would be a fantastic move by the Whites, as Norwood possesses abilities in the midfield which could be handy for Bielsa’s system.

The Northern Ireland international should relish the prospect of playing under a legendary manager like Bielsa and making a name for himself. He impressed many during his loan move with Fulham last season, displaying an array of attributes fit for a passing-based football system.
