Ismaila Sarr scout report – All you need to know about this Arsenal target

Arsenal have successfully won their last four Premier League games but their attack continues to look rigid. The obvious lack of quality wingers has forced Unai Emery to play the likes of Mesut Ozil, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and even Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on the wings.

But it seems like the club are looking to find a solution to this problem. The Sun have linked 20-year-old Ismaila Sarr with a move to the Emirates.

Background

Born in Saint-Louis, Senegal, Sarr started his football career with Senegalese football club Génération Foot. In July 2016, he signed his first professional contract with FC Metz and debuted in a 3-2 win over Lille OSC at Stade Saint-Symphorien.

As a result, Sarr was snapped up by Ligue 1 club Rennes in 2017. Last season, he started 22 league games for Rennes and scored 5 goals while setting up 3 more. During this time, he made 18 key passes, had 15 shots on target with a shooting accuracy of 80% and completed 64 dribbles.

His splendid performances helped the club finished fifth and the youngster was also included in the Senegalese squad for the World Cup. Despite receiving limited minutes in Russia, Sarr certainly thrived. He has started the ongoing season quite admirably as well, having scored 3 goals in 7 starts across competitions – which includes a screamer of a goal against Jablonec in the Europa League.

Rennes have a superb reputation for nurturing attacking talent but Sarr stands out for his strong positional play and vision in the attacking third.

What the future holds

For now, Sarr will remain at Rennes but The Sun says that he has been on the radars of a number of high-profile clubs like Manchester United, Barcelona, Juventus and Inter Milan.

Hence, Arsenal have a tough task at hand. A lot of top clubs are in the race to sign the player and if the Gunners want him, they must act fast. Arsenal could work wonders by adding a tricky winger to their current attacking unit, which would allow Mesut Ozil to shift inside and play through the centre.

Sarr is a young player who doesn’t have much experience at the highest level but he should take inspiration from Anthony Martial, who was also an unknown name when he arrived on English shores in 2015. However, he took the league by storm in his first season with Manchester United and there is no reason why Sarr cannot do the same with Arsenal.
