Leon Bailey is one of the hottest young prospects in the world. He had a wonderful season with Bayern Leverkusen and helped the German team to a fifth-place finish in the Bundesliga. The Jamaican youngster scored 12 goals and provided 6 assists in 34 appearances for the club in all competitions.
His remarkable form last season saw him find a place in the Bundesliga Team of the Year. At the age of only 20, the youngster was nominated for the Man of the Match on four occasions. With an average of two key passes per game, he has drawn the attention of several big clubs. One particularly interested club is Chelsea.
According to The Metro, Chelsea have shown an interest in the youngster but it remains to be seen if they are willing to shell out Leverkusen’s demand of £70million for Bailey.
In retrospect, the price tag might not be a problem for the Blues but the only question that remains is whether or not he would thrive in Chelsea.
The Blues make use of their flanks a lot and prefer crossing in balls. In addition to that, they also have players cutting in to take shots or set up opportunities. Given his performances, Bailey would thrive in a system where he can fully exploit the flank while finding ways to cut in and take strikes.
