Wahab Riaz flummoxed Roelof van der Merwe during a Mzansi Super League match with a yorker

The Mzansi Super League 2019 has generated quite a lot of limelight this edition. From some brilliant batting displays and Wahab Riaz produced another fantastic moment.

One such moment was seen in the 22nd match played between the Cape Town Blitz and Tshwane Spartans.

Blitz’s and Pakistan fast bowler Riaz bowled an eye-catching yorker to uproot the stumps of Tshwane Spartans all-rounder Roelof van der Merwe.

The fourth delivery of the penultimate over saw the middle and off stump uprooted.

However, Riaz overstepped on the same delivery which meant he had to re-bowl the delivery. But much to his delight, the free hit did not go for a maximum and Merwe managed only a single.

The visitors needed 22 off nine balls and had the free hit gone for a six, the match could have gone the other way.

Cape Town won the toss and chose to bat, and they could manage only 157/5 in 20 overs. That was thanks to David Bedingham’s half-century, in which he hit five fours and a six.

Among the bowlers, Lungi Ngidi was the best performer with figures of 4-0-30-3.

Chasing 158 runs, the Spartans could manage only 142/7 in 20 overs as the Blitz registered a 15-run victory. Pite van Biljon top-scored for his team with 62 off 42 balls during which he hit four fours and three sixes.

The Pakistan pacer seems to have found his form back in the MSL 2019 for the Cape Town Blitz picking up 6 wickets in as many matches.

A T20 globetrotter, Riaz has played more than 200 T20 games from which he has more than 250 wickets.

For Pakistan, he has played 89 ODIs, picking up 115 wickets. Very recently, the 34-year-old announced retirement from the longest format of cricket after picking up 83 wickets in 27 games.
