Ravichandran Ashwin’s Tamil Nadu needed three runs from the final ball to win the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy
Ravichandran Ashwin is one of the most skilful bowlers ever to have played the game.
The 33-year-old featured for India in the recent Test series against South Africa but was in domestic action recently.
The spinner was representing Tamil Nadu in the T20 competition and was in action against Karnataka.
It was a nail-biting contest with Karnataka scoring 180 from their allotted 20 overs. Manish Pandey top-scored for them with 60 and had some huge hits too.
The India star also had one huge six with the ball sailing outside the stadium and some fans chased it too.
However, Tamil Nadu gave a good account of themselves and took the fight till the final over.
The side batting second needed three runs from the final ball and Ashwin decided to make things a little easier for his side.
The crafty spinner took off his pads to make running easier. They needed three runs and even two could have tied the game.
Things don’t go as planned for Tamil Nadu
Unfortunately, Ashwin and his partner, Murugan Ashwin couldn’t get the required runs as Karnataka celebrated wildly.
The pair were able to get just one run and lost the final by a single run too.
Ravichandran Ashwin was the pick of the bowlers for his team as he got two wickets with an economy of 8.5.
Both sides gave it their all in this game, and this was the perfect example of how T20 cricket is always filled with drama.
Ashwin might have been on the wrong end of the scoreline, but he deserves credit for his quick thinking.
The spinner is also one of the wittiest cricketers on Twitter too.
His India career hasn’t been going all that great in recent months, and it will be interesting to see how he does in the future.
Ashwin is now considered and all-rounder thanks to some incredible centuries in Tests. His highest score in ODIs is 65 while in T20s it is 46.
The 33-year-old has also picked up 362 Test wickets and 150 ODI ones during his illustrious career with India.
